Winds of Winter

“Winds of Winter”
Words & Music: Billie Hughes

When the first winds of winter
Move the snow clouds across the sky
And the gray day again moves slowly by

The summer birds are winging
And I take to hours of dreaming
And the mornings spent quietly by the fire

And I’m ready for the long one
And I’m sitting warm and fine
And I’m thinking how it brings peace of mind

And the days are given slowness
And the child again explores
All the secrets of still-life indoors

And I’m guessing at direction
Music streams from all around
Filling every corner of the house
